About the Artist

Peni is a prize winning artist whose creativity and dedication to detail has earned her many prizes and recognition. She is one of the few figurative artists making porcelain portrait dolls of children from photographs and takes pride in not only capturing the likeness, but the character of her subjects.

Some of her more renowned works are character and portraits of celebrities. While she continues to do porcelain portrait dolls, she enjoys working with other mediums and has come to love working in paper clay and earthenware.

Peni feels an inherent kinship to the Maasai people. She finds these African people and their culture beautiful and fascinating. For 2007 she has added two one-of-a-kind pieces sculpted in earthenware to her series called “the Maasai people”

In the future Peni will concentrate on depicting the people of many diverse cultures around the world.
